Worshiping in the Spirit...What does that mean?

TANYA TERRELL

For years, “worship in spirit” intimidated me. I thought it meant I had to be deep in church culture, speaking in tongues, or doing something dramatic to prove I was spiritual enough. That belief created pressure and made me feel like I was missing something.

But today I realized that worshiping in spirit has nothing to do with performance. It’s not about sounding holy or doing what other people do. It’s about posture, my heart turned toward God, my honesty, my openness, my willingness to be with Him.

I don’t feel weighed down by concerns because I’ve actually given them to Him. That’s not being unconcerned; that’s trust. And if anything tries to distract me , whether it’s people, social media, or random thoughts, I’m asking God to push it aside while we’re together.

Worship in spirit is simpler than I thought. It’s truth. It’s alignment. It’s me showing up as I am. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.
