When You're Tired of It All, There's Still One Place to Go

When You're Tired of It All, There's Still One Place to Go

TANYA TERRELL

A lot of us are walking around tired right now, and nobody is really saying it out loud.

Tired of turning on the news and feeling like the world is unraveling. Tired of dealing with personal challenges that nobody else can see. Tired of trying to hold it together when everything around you feels unstable. Tired of pretending you are fine when you are not.

If that is you today, I need you to keep reading.

This morning I opened the YouVersion app and found a prayer that stopped me in my tracks. Not because it was fancy or poetic. Because it was honest. It said exactly what I had been feeling but had not put into words yet.

Here it is:

"God, I truly want your presence to overwhelm me right now. I feel tired and worn out by the news, personal challenges, and everything happening in this world. I release my problems to you and embrace your peace. Fill my thirsty soul, and satisfy me like only you can. In Jesus name, amen."

Amen indeed.

I prayed it and meant every word.

Here is what I want you to understand. I am not sharing this as someone who has it figured out. I am sharing it as someone who has been in the kind of tired this prayer describes. The deep tired. The kind that sleep does not fix. The kind that comes from carrying things you were never meant to carry alone.

And I can tell you from actual experience, not from a sermon, not from a quote I read somewhere, the only thing that has ever truly helped is this: God's presence. Not a distraction. Not staying busy. Not scrolling until you feel numb. His presence.

That is not a church answer. That is a real answer from someone who has tested every other option and came back to Him.

The prayer says "fill my thirsty soul." That line hit me because thirst is physical. It is urgent. It is not poetic. When you are thirsty, you need something real. And that is exactly what God is. He is not an idea or a feeling you chase. He is the only thing that actually satisfies when everything else has run dry.

So wherever you are reading this, whatever you are carrying right now, this prayer is for you too. You do not have to clean yourself up first. You do not have to have the right words. You do not have to feel spiritual or ready or worthy. That is the whole point of coming as you are.

Just pray it. Mean it. He hears you. And if you are not sure He is even listening, start there. Tell Him that too. He can handle your doubt. He just wants you to show up.

Come as you are. Every single time.

Scripture anchor: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Reflection question to close: What are you carrying today that you have not handed over yet? What would it feel like to actually let it go?
